I began as Arts and Humanities Librarian at Bucknell after finishing up two master’s degrees at the University of Texas – one in art history and the other in information studies. My research in art history has focused on the Middle Ages, and I was first drawn to librarianship through an interest in the history of the book, manuscript illumination, and printing. I am fascinated by what is in store for the book in the digital age, and I am excited by the possibilities afforded to scholars and students through the digitization of the cultural record.

During my student years, I had the opportunity to work on several projects involving digital technologies and the humanities. As an undergraduate at Bryn Mawr College, I spent a summer in the library at Lincoln Cathedral creating a database of images from early printed books. I worked on a digital exhibition while a graduate intern at the Ringling Museum of Art Library and, last summer, as an intern at the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, I worked to identify ways that digital technologies might increase public access to the libraries’ collection of artists’ books.
