I have little to no background with technology, though I am not at all a technophobe.

I am an African Americanist in an English department. I am the author of the (print) book _Unnatural Selections: Eugenics in American Modernism and the Harlem Renaissance_ (2004) that reflects my interdisciplinary scholarly interests and commitments as well as my prior career in public health. I have a second (print) book, _Political Fictions: Time and Justice in African American Literature_, that is forthcoming later this year from the University of Minnesota Press.

I have taught at Macalester for 8 years.
